Obsessive Drawing

Ian Pyper's Relentless Art Of Drawing

I have drawn ever since I can remember and it's a vital part of my life. I can't think of a time when I haven't been drawing and it's definitely my personal obsession. I try to constantly find new ways to express myself through the discipline of drawing and to reduce things to a much more simple and yet codified form of expression.

I have loved Ian's work ever since I discovered it on facebook. He is a constant inspiration to another obsessive drawer but hey thats the way to get deep isn't it?

Ian,

I love your new work! Contemporary and yet archtypal at the same time. You have a spectacular vision.

I have really enjoyed the new images, the vibrant colours of the map backgrounds offset the black image lines perfectly giving them power and emphasis. The Mondrian inspired abstract are interesting too. Thank you for the comments you left me! I am JimDogArt on facebook though I set it up as a business type page- I am terrible at social media!

This is a very impressive show of 'intuitive' drawings and sculptural work. Your concepts are intelligent and the way that you choose to present your ideas, on pieces of text books for instance, works really well.

This work really communicates to me at so many different levels, it is simple yet complex, it is vibrant but dark, I think it expresses itself perfectly, thank you for sharing Ian, keep up the great work.

I love this work Ian. I particularly like the way you have drawn over old texts, it works so well. I love the simple clarity of your images. I look forward to seeing more. I have been using an old history textbook to record ideas for some work I have in mind mixing text and images, a sketchbook I suppose. Your work has made me look at this again with renewed enthusiasm. Most of my work is linked to mental health issues and so I found many of your images relevant and meaningful.

Ian is my most fave living artist !! I am a new collector( personal ) of his & a friend, from USA.. I met him when I as an artist myself , was in a terrible dry spot of creativity. He encouraged me both with his thoughts & MOSTLY His art. If I could, I would have an "Ian Pyper" in every room of the house!
