From the loom

My weaving is about more than just the surface.

In the digital, screen-age world, I seek to reintroduce texture. I am influenced by the physical world around me, a combination of what I observe and what I experience. My method of weaving tapestry to shape introduces an element of surprise: I never know exactly how it will come together, as it is woven in sections that are later carefully pieced together. The tapestry weaving process allows a lot of time for attention to the surface but when it is off the loom it has the potential to take on a new dimension and become sculptural.
