VHSThis was an application for unlimited which was an exhibition of 400 VHS cassettes with a single VHS player, so that visitors to the exhibit could watch any film they wished. The VHS cassettes were taken from my own collection built up from 1985-the early naughties and are a highly personal history of cinema with films ranging from Italian Neorealists to teen movies of the 1980s. The idea was to get people thinking about their favourite films and asking questions of themself and their own choices and how choices about what culture we absorb give us our sense of self. I also wanted to create an artwork which used existing and found items but which recontextualised them. My other artworks I have listed here are also made up of found or acquired items. This artwork was never completed as the funding application to Unlimited was unsuccessful.
