Step Up: Exploring Collections is a training programme run by Outside In which aims to provide participants with the skills to research and interpret works of art. In this iteration of the course, participants have been encouraged to explore the history behind works in the collection that represent the South Downs National Park or landscapes more generally and to produce their own creative interpretations.

The exhibition includes a selection of these responses alongside works by Ivon Hitchens, Peter Iden, the Smith Brothers of Chichester and Simon Roberts.
