I am an abstract painter. I use the abstract language of mark-making that is both personal and universal, a visual language that I hope to uplift, and communicate. Through a layering of colour and a richness of surface, I invite the viewer to wander and explore, creating their own personal journey.
I am always thinking, developing, and pushing myself as a creative person to bring new ideas to my work. I have embraced painting since childhood, as a teenager and as an adult, throughout lockdown, as well as the challenge of looking inward to look forward.
I want to inspire others with my art and my story, to show people that anything is possible if dedicated and passionate about it. My mediums include acrylic and mixed media.
I have extensive training, having studied Fine Art at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
For a time, I was a dedicated representational painter, making images based on direct observation. Gradually though, the emphasis of my work has changed. Now, I feel that my art has evolved. I am not preoccupied to describe what I see, instead, I want to interpret what I see, describing visually how I feel.
My abstract art is a vehicle for endless experimentation and exploration, and is largely inspired by my discoveries of my inner world. My practice offers me opportunities for reflection. Everything in my past informs the surface- my Romanian heritage, my memories, love for music, dance, people and nature. Fluid shapes of vibrant colours emerge along the way and I never quite know what the combination will bring. I use vivid colours to excite the imagination, allowing viewers to explore their own experiences, shifting from dark to light as a metaphor for optimism and hope.
Through abstraction and experimentation, I can express the communication between the surface and the subconscious, searching for an emotional response. The “communication” between the surface and the subconscious is quiet and contemplative or dynamic and vibrant.
Also I like the final result, the creative process I enjoy the most – free experimentation, free emotions captured in a brush stroke or a shade of colour.
My intention is to offer a fresh, authentic point of view – a visual dialogue that enables a personal story to be regarded and interpreted by the viewer. I want to evoke emotions over rationality, and to foster the opportunity for transcendence through creativity. My abstract art gives me the freedom to start walking without knowing where I am going to.
My ultimate goal is to find resolution, unity and an emotional response through a visual history of manipulated layers. I love the intense, saturated colours and many of her paintings are re-imagined creations of different emotions. The use of colour often becomes a very emotional response.
As an artist, I continue to paint, to learn, to succeed, to fail, to grow, to follow my heart, and to create and to exhibit as much as possible.
