I am a self taught artist, currently attending informal art classes at a community engagement project. Through art I find self-expression and great catharsis. I am always trying new things, recently working in crafts. I knit from my own patterns in a free form style and have begun crocheting. After seeing an inventive technique where fabric is dipped in liquid slip to make it ceramic, I decided to try this with a hat I crocheted (too large!). I let it dry over a mould to make a basket, which was then glazed. In the firing process, the fibres burn off leaving only the clay. I like to reuse materials and find inspiration through recycling elements. Showing my work would increase my confidence and give me the opportunity to share my ideas with a wider audience. I believe having a platform for Outsider Crafts is very important to show how creativity enhances our lives by encouraging positivity and inventiveness.
