From the artist:
This piece is part of my commission by the Mental Health and Justice project with Kings College London, exploring advance decision making in Bipolar. This is an experiment dipping twisted fabric into wax as a test for a potential larger piece. It is best to dip the fabric in the melted wax twice to get an even coating. It makes the fabric solid, but quite brittle and fragile. I like that wax drips, it is semi translucent and coats your fingers when melted. Wax has many associations for me, as a child I remember playing with the wax from candles in a Catholic church during mass.
