From the artist:
This is the third piece im my Renaissance series. As in the previous two, the image incorporates some of the packaging from the7,300 items of medication I take in the course of one year to combat organ rejection and other conditions. The constant consumption of medication in huge quantities has a significant effect on the body, to the extent that it is now a part of my identity. Here I depict the recognisable outline of my own body in life-size, defined by the representation of medicines which sustain life. The background is a digitally printed colourised cardiac MRI scan of my heart. The scale of these three pieces individually and together excludes them from most exhibitions where there are size constraints, but I feel that the body of work is defined by its size, and would be appropriate for an exhibition which specifically celebrates the use of scale.
