I took up art at a moment of total mental brake down. I was admitted to hospital and I “woke up” in the art room. I had not done any art since school and I was 45. I was put in the mental health art group and was encouraged to paint and draw. My art tutor Helen said I should do AS art. This led to City and Guilds level three which I finished this year. Now four years on at 49 at the end of this month I am starting a foundation course at Bournemouth Art University College. I would love to get a degree and then help others in my boat.
