I create beautiful, unique collector’s edition fine art prints and artists books which tell a personal story. They are hand crafted with decisive combined media making a heritage gift for an intimate experience. Biography: Graduated from Bretton Hall College the University of Leeds with a BA Honors Degree in Fine Art Textiles; Degree in Dance. A pleasure to have been in such an inspirational environment as Bretton Hall at a unique educational era. Practice Statement: My Art Practice has been established since 1992. It is once again based in Wakefield having had the experience of different Studio Groups within West Yorkshire Region. I have committed a part of my Practice to Art Education, Artist Residencies plus promoting quality & equality of art delivery & participation by establishing an artist networking; instigating art based social enterprises; skill sharing with third sector arts organisations. Artist Statement: Traditional techniques and processes are at the core of my practice coupled with ecological concerns. Nature and the natural environment are a continual inspiration which informs individual collections. ‘Lifeloom’ projects follow particular narratives producing artworks in paper and wool. Collections represent locally sourced, re-cycled & up-cycled materials created in the mediums of Artist Books and Limited Edition Fine Art Prints. Weaving layers of image, process and story bound with inheritance skills and 1940’s utility ethos. A seminal project: ‘Silent Witness’ which began during an Artist-in-Residence. The point of reference being WW1 photograph of my paternal grandfather. My enquiry has led me to question the personal experience of conflict and peace.
