From the artist:
Based on the artists memories of her life in Africa and family trips to the Kalahari desert. As a child I would sit on the front of the landrover as it drove across the desert. The piece captures the artists memories of this precious time.It also explores how art is just about capturing the feel and mood of the environment but also be the vehicle of remembering my childhood in Africa – the colours, textures evoking strong emotions. The desert gets its name from the Tswana word Kgala ("the great thirst"), or Kgalagadi, Khalagari, or Kalagare, meaning "a waterless place".
