From the artist:
I live surrounded by nature, tucked away in a big city, that has a large family of foxes. I have seen up to 7 foxes all hanging out in the evening summer sun quite oblivious to passers by. One of those evenings I was sitting outside doing my usual meditation and as I opened my eyes there was a adult fox all curled up, lying only 5 metres away staring at me. So we both sat there very still and continued our stare for nearly 10 minutes, completely mesmersied by each other! This painting is based on that experience as it's very rare for a fox to be so intrigued, still and not scared . Quite the opposite in fact almost cosie. I felt to place the fox in darkness to highlight its nocturnal nature and out of my deep space it appeared.
