I have recently been exploring painting through studying at University of Brighton for my MA Inclusive Arts Practice.
This stage in my life is providing opportunities of discovery. Intuitive Discoveries collection was inspired as part of my first exhibition. Discoveries is closely linked to the word serendipity “…Heroes that were always making discoveries, by accidents and sagacity, of things they were not in quest of.” Online Etymology Dictionary, 2010 Douglas Harper
Each painting is an intuitive discovery through the journey taken with the paints and the colours chosen. I have been inspired over the past year by walks along seafronts and local towns in East Sussex, and I have recently returned to exploring painting whilst studying at University of Brighton MA Inclusive Arts Practice. Previous to this much of my career life I channelled my creativity towards developing projects and programmes for vulnerable groups and young people both in the UK and overseas. Intuitive Discoveries was my first exhibition. My preferred medium is gouache and my subjects have been intuitively sought walking along seafronts in East Sussex, including Eastbourne, Brighton and Hastings. I believe I have a strong sense of intuition which is reflected in the colours and style of each painting; and each piece has been explorative, at times requiring additional research. This is an opportunity to provide a moment in time for a continuing connection to meet locally with others through my work.
