I have loved art since I was a child and began drawing and painting from a young age. I have always admired the qualities of painting and their emotive power, especially through the use of colour. With my work, I have aimed to extend the painting beyond the 2d surface by building textures and layers, but still aiming to use traditional painting materials where I can. I intend my work to carry what we regard as the typical elements of painting, such as arrangement of colour, movement, feeling and form, and to also suggest an aspect of physical presence, or evidence of such. I hope that viewers can see fragments of a story or characterisation within my work, by my paintings and sculpture providing clues to a world my work is intended to create or represent.
