From the artist:
Cotton Tops refers to the name given to the white flowers growing on the top of the moor in high summer. In recent years they have been abundant as sheep are now restricted from going onto the high moor in the Peak District National Park where I live. More can be seen at www.moorsforthefuture.org.uk It is a large oil painting capturing the heat of a summer day by the use of colour, vigorous mark making and subject matter. It was painted in the studio from oil sketches done on site. It has the energy of the sketch with the commitment of the large scale.
