Height: various print sizes
From the artist:
This photo was taken in spring time at Wakehurst, Kew Gardens in West Sussex. It is a place we regularly visit. Although the garden is well visited by the public it never feels crowded. Spaces are wide and open, with a variety of very old big trees, a wide range of exotic and native plants. The image reflects on the serenity & beauty of the place. It has an overall, soft, dreamy appearance. At the centre of the image is a lake surrounded by trees and bushes which mirror in the water. The colours of the foliage are light red, pink and various tones of greens. In the background of the image is an old mansion. No people or animals can be seen. The image prompted various responses to viewers. Several used the word dreamy, or like in a dream. One German person wrote " Wie ein Traum, schön und nicht greifbar, bleibt geheimnisvoll" - " Like a dream, beautiful but intangible, it remains a mystery " Another person used the word 'fairy tale'. Like the other images from the series 'Nostalgic Sussex' the picture represents an ideal environment not accessible to most people. But more central to the intention of the artist, the image(s) of the series create(s) a mental space in which viewers can project their dreams, ideas & stories about their ideal environment.
