I am a trained and experienced photographer/printer for over 25 years. I was taught by Kodak and employed by them. This gave me the foundation to know what makes a good picture, i.e. using light and colours and composition. I have never really put my hand to fine art or sketching until I did this sentence.I hope I’ve discovered a latent talent. I am now being taught much more in depth about all art movements and what artists were inspired by. I’ve learnt about using different techniques. I’ve seen how art progressed and evolved. I’m trying to combine my old skills as a photographer with new Photoshop techniques, so I will make my style of photo greeting cards unique.
The art work I’m sending in is work I have done over 3 years. I’ve attained a City and Guilds Level 1 and now I’m completing Level 2. I have also done an OCR in I-Media and I am doing an Open University course in Photoshop CS4.
The courses I’ve passed and skills I’ve attained don’t make me feel like an accomplished artist, until I hear what the public think. If I am selected for the Outside In National 2012, I will be overwhelmed to have my work shown in the Pallant House Gallery.
