From the artist:
This is acrylic, charcoal and acrylic paint skin on paper. It represents my internal environment, and how I responded to my external environment, around 2 years ago now, with the ups and downs of the moods, and everything else that this entailed. Now stable, I can look back on it and start to talk about it as well as create work on the matter. I am hoping people will relate, talk, and break taboos around this mental illness. Now, when I tell people I am bipolar, due to how I am with my internal and external environment, they cannot believe it. And although this may feel good, as it is a sort of tribute as to how I am with myself and my family, I will not forget those days of being ill.
