I always liked to do art, but in Somalia, I didn’t have the opportunity. I joined the art therapy group in Bristol 3 or 4 years ago. My mental well being inspires me, I just want to take away my mind and sometimes I want to focus on something that interests me. So far, I am happy with my work. I really enjoy the artwork, I look forward to the art group, it reduces my anxiety, I get very upset if the session gets canceled or I miss it. Art has become part of my life. I am interested in being an art teacher in the future. It helps my mind and I feel happier after I’ve finished a piece of artwork. I always think about my art therapist, Sarah, how she is managing a group of us and respect our differences and everyone understands that everyone has ups and downs. I see the creative side of everyone and how art impacts their life.
