First and foremost I’m a painterly artist, I prefer the traditional format of creating an image on a flat surface. I will use anything to create the image itself: acrylic, oil, crayon, pencil, marker pen, felt tip pen, biro, watercolour, spit, semen etc. Sometimes all together. Fidelity of media is not particularly important to me.
Everything I do is an attempt at unraveling, exploring and decoding my own ideas, thoughts and desires. I explore themes of sex including fetishization, its origins and interaction with non-sexual aspects of life, narratives of mental illness, delusions and hallucinations. I occasionally use themes of political correctness, anatomical censorship – as well as censorship and suppression of free speech – perceptions of mental illness and social disorders. I refuse to eliminate humour from my work, which many artists do in order to preserve an enigma and image of seriousness. I also explore more general elements of “the human condition”, specifically thinking about depression, doom, engulfing existentialism, suicide and purpose. All of my work is drawn from personal experience.
