From the artist:
This creation was an expression of my hate of the pressure that society put on us to be beautiful. To have to style our hair, groom and paint ourselves, shave and wax, scrub and gleam, to wear uncomfortable clothing and underwear, all for the sake of beauty. Visual beauty yes can be essentiated, but faked is unnecessary when people are already so naturally beautiful. Our brains and wittiness is beauty, our strength and tenacity, our understanding and empathy, our loyalty and reliability. So many more vital elements that are far more vital that what someone looks like. How can we create something beautiful when we all like different things? Hence why we all are meant to have all these amazing diffences. Celebrate your differences and uniqueness and be just who you are. Try not to judge someone on their appearance as you may just realise one day that it is what is inside that really counts. Making kids cry to brush hair is just one of the unnecessary acts that humans often do every day. Fine if you want it brushed to look neat if that's what is important to you, then take the time it needs to brush it carefully without hurting the child. It doesn't have to hurt. Rushed, harsh brushing does hurt anyone, child, adult, dog, cat, horse, anyone.
