From the artist:
Mixed media Cubist like abstract landscape piece featuring different archaeological depths and textures that is a very tactile object like painting. Based on my experience in North Wales and about North Wales' history, in short about a sense of place. Combining: multi viewpoints around Blaenau Ffestiniog to reference my journey that day from urban to nature to ruins, my psychologically happy mood, what I ate, the colours and textures of the place, and the history of how the Welsh tried to defend their land many times. There is a 'defense wall' running around the sides of the painting that protect it, evoking that history, but the painting remains airy and spacious nonetheless evoking also the air and space of the landscapes in North Wales. Peter Lanyon and Stewart Geddes (who taught me) are favourite artists of mine and so their art was on my mind a lot during this period.
