I have been painting and drawing since I was very young. Art has stayed with me as a life force, during my lowest moments, in the hardest times. I am motivated by landscape and a sense of place. When I conect with a landscape I bring to this my emotional history, my experiences, my memories. I am energised by colour, by marks and textures which reflect both my personal struggles and the struggle to make a painting. Art gives me space and permission to be myself, this is essential in our crowded and capitalist society which demands conformity. Art is for everyone. I hope my paintings will encourage others to find the artist in themselves.
