For her threaded sculptural pieces Mary combines foam, plastics, paper, fabric and wire, threading and condensing the carefully cut up materials to create playful works of art. Each threaded piece is unique and her choice of materials is often influenced by the availability and her mood on the day. Mary has a very systematic approach and enjoys the familiarity of this methodical process she has developed.
Mary has exhibited her sculptural work across London including in Selfridges with The Museum of Everything, Bermondsey Project Space and Shape in the City Gallery. Mary has also created site-specific installations with her sculptural work for the Wandsworth Arts Festival in the Southside Shopping Centre in 2011, 2014 and 2015 and in Tooting Market in 2012.
Alongside her sculptural work Mary has developed a vast body of paintings. Mary always applies initial symmetrical brush marks as the basis for all her paintings, she then works intuitively, responding to colours and marks already applied so the painting grows organically. Mary will complete a painting in a day, pacing herself perfectly to suit the size of paper and the time frame she has to work in. She frequently combines painting with collage to create solid, confident works of art. In 2014 Mary created a huge onsite painting in an empty shop in the Southside Shopping centre, Wandsworth as part of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe Festival.
