My name is Neil Thomas. I was born in Cornwall on the 13/9/1974. I was very creative as a kid growing up. At school I use to sit at the back of the class drawing and the teachers did not mind. Moving on through my life I got put into the mental health system. I spent 18 years in those places, and to pass the time i would draw, I also built a model boat with a nurse called Graham what took 3 years to build. I managed to move out of secure unit to less secure. I moved to a hospital in Bodmin, were my art started to happen. I worked with a lady called Rose. She was the Art Therapist. We use to sit in the art class in silence for 40 mins and the last 20 mins i use to draw. I moved on from there and went to supported house in Penzance. Its there where art became a big part of my life. I bought easel, brushes and oil paints, but i then stopped again and went Camborne College. I done a B Tec level 2 in art and design. I got an overall Merit Pass. I am now at Krowji getting stuck into my own studio. My studio at the Krowji is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I go there everyday and get lost in my art. I sometimes just sit there and think and spend hours working on different projects. I am getting a lot more confident and also having a studio in krowji helps me to socialize and interact with other artists.
