Since childhood I’ve had a powerful motivation to create and expressing this drive has proved a vital therapeutic outlet which I have utilised in a wide variety of areas to date -some more productive than others. Experience has taught that for me, it’s pointless trying to conform to one theme, one style or medium as this restricts my natural diversity, which is reflected in an equal liking for detail, spontaneity, intuitive expression, realism and abstraction in a wide variety of media including textiles. However, the downtrodden or ‘insignificant’, often feature in my creations, -perhaps because the disenfranchised including myself- need a voice more and more. I make art firstly for myself from a need to, therefore many years of handiwork have pretty much gone unseen. I can vault between playful and dark depending on circumstances and don’t necessarily know what I’m doing until it’s shows itself as done. Outside in offers an opportunity to have some artwork seen and hopefully enjoyed and appreciated. Sally Case.
