I have drawn, doodled, coloured and painted, designed and decorated for as long as I can remember. After leaving school I studied at the Reigate School of Art & Design, where I took lessons in a range of artistic disciplines.
Although interested primarily in portraiture, I also enjoy animal/wildlife art and landscape painting, and I use a loose, vibrant style to bring a contemporary feel to these very traditional subject matters.
Drawing inspiration from everyday life and the interesting places I have visited, my works are snapshots of people interacting with those places, shown as they were truly experienced. To achieve this, I work and experiment with colour, texture and form, often in combination, to bring a fresh and free dimension to my paintings while retaining the likenesses and character of my subject. I like to work quickly but deliberately, often using colour direct from the tube, to put across that transitory feeling – that the viewer is catching a brief fleeting moment, as it was actually seen, not as it actually looked.
I hope that you enjoy my work
