I left my job as a web developer when it became too stressful and left to undertake a Master’s degree; unfortunately I dropped out and became unwell.
I was referred to Shrub Hill as part of my rehabilitation and began drawing. One of my first projects was an illustration depicting skeleton characters celebrating the Mexican national holiday of Dia de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”).
A later piece is a series of drawings of characters which appear in Walt Disney’s Aladdin. I started with Aladdin, followed by the Genie, Princess Jasmine and finally Abu the Monkey.
Drawing these characters was part of my targets of trying to develop and improve my drawing skills for human characters, in particular faces.
I usually work in pencil first, clean up the rough lines and trace with pen and then depending on subject may choose to add colour afterwards.
