I’m a self taught artist. Born in Sweden, I came to London in 1997 in my early twenties, and have lived and worked here ever since.
I’m inspired by organic shapes in nature, cave art, and Folk Art created by indigenous cultures. I’m process oriented, and like to explore form, colour and material.
In my soft sculpture practice I use needle felted wool, currently focussing on cylindrical solid shapes, which I use to essentially draw in felt. I use three dimensional lines, networks and structures, to create the sculptures. I find the process almost magical, how taking a piece of fluffy wool and only using a felting needle (and stabbing it multiple times) I can create soft and squishy, yet firm and solid shapes. I create instinctively, making shapes I’m currently obsessed or pre-occupied with.
