2013 Koestler Awards Now Open

The Koestler Trust has been running the awards programme for offenders, secure patients and detainees for 50 years.

The aims of the awards include:

•A positive goal towards which inmates can strive.
•A means of acquiring and practising new skills, and often discovering unrecognised talent.
•An outlet for creative energies and emotions.
•Recognition of achievements.
•Encouragement to continue in the arts and education.

The Application Form and the Guidance Notes are now available to download on the Awards page.

This year:

•They are delighted to announce that we have two new judges for 2013; the artist Sarah Lucas and the V&A Museum. Find out more about our judges
•The themed category for this year, set by Jude Kelly artistic director of Southbank Centre, is 'Forgiveness'.
•There is a new 'Song Lyrics' category in response to suggestions from entrants. See the complete list of artform categories
•Send in your entries early and win a prize. The establishment with the most entries to reach them by the 28th February 2013 will receive £300 for arts resources.
