Outside In is very pleased to announce that it will be collaborating with Salisbury Arts Centre on a project that will culminate in an exhibition later in the year. Together, we are looking for artists based in Wiltshire who feel they face barriers when it comes to exhibiting their art work.
The theme of the exhibition is ‘Worth Fighting For?’ Does your work represent things or issues in your life, or within the world, that you feel are worth fighting for? Does it represent what’s important to you, what you value? You might have represented these ideas in an abstract way, or perhaps you have depicted them more obviously in your work. Salisbury Arts Centre chose this poignant theme in the spirit of celebration. This year is the venue’s 40th anniversary, thanks to its community’s persistence in fighting to keep it open. It offers an opportunity to debate and discuss the things we hold dear, and to think about our rights and responsibilities; about what we are prepared to defend and what we are prepared to fight for.
We have planned two Surgery Days to support artists who do not have the skills or facilities to submit work to the exhibition themselves. These will be taking place on:
- Saturday 11 July, 10am – 4.30pm
- Wednesday 29 July, 10am – 4.30pm
To book a one hour one-to-one slot on either of these days, please contact Hannah Whitlock by emailing email@example.com or calling 01243 770845. The Surgery Days will be taking place at: Salisbury Arts Centre, Bedwin Street, SP1 3UT.
Alternatively, you can sign up for an online gallery on our website and submit work to the exhibition yourself. To submit, please follow the instructions below:
- Create an online gallery on the Outside In website. You can do this by visiting www.outsidein.org.uk and then clicking on the 'Sign Up' tab at the top.
- Email Hannah Whitlock (firstname.lastname@example.org) with information about the two pieces from your online gallery you would like to submit. This should include the title, the size in centimetres, the medium, and an optional short description.
Submissions are open now, and the deadline to submit by is 5pm, Sunday 30 August 2015.
A selection of artists will be chosen to show a body of their work at Salisbury Arts Centre alongside a display by local Outside In artist and Ambassador Brian Gibson.
