We are pleased to announce that, following an open call for guest selectors, Outside In artist Carlo Keshishian is to join the selectors panel for the upcoming residency at West Dean College of Arts And Conservation. Carlo has announced that he is really looking forward to engaging with the opportunity and will be joining a panel of selectors also including Sarah Hughes, Curatorial Assistant from West Dean and Cornelia Marland, Exhibitions Programme Manager from Outside In.
Submissions close for the call for entries for this residency on Monday 3 August. The selected artist will be invited to respond to the College’s Historic House, Collection and Archive as part of Whose Heritage? Rethinking the West Dean Collection, a research project set up to re-evaluate how the collections are displayed throughout the Historic House, and asks how broader social and cultural engagement can help institutional ambitions and change. Applications are strongly encouraged from artists from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and artists who would like to explore the artefacts in the collection and the ethics around the display and interpretation of these pieces.
