AHSW are seeking to appoint a freelance evaluator for this project (in partnership with Outside In and Bristol Museum and Art Gallery), across the period of May 2016 -June 2018.
Deadline for applications: April 11th 2016 5pm
Fee: £4370 plus VAT.
Alternative Visions is a touring exhibition of work by artists who feel excluded from the mainstream art world. This project is a collaboration between Arts & Health South West (AHSW), Outside In, based at Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, and Bristol Museum and Art Gallery (BMGA). Arts & Health South West is the lead organisation.
The exhibition will tour to four museums in the South West between June 2017 and June 2018: Bristol Museum and Art Gallery; Falmouth Art Gallery; Poole Museum; and the Wilson in Cheltenham. Artists First, will be creating an audio interpretation that will travel with the tour. The project includes networking and relationship building with health and social care organisations in each locality.
The exhibition will challenge and question perceptions in relation to artists who see themselves as facing barriers to the art world due to health, disability, social circumstance or isolation, and highlight issues of diversity, interpretation and power relationships between artists and curators. It will create discussion around what people think should be considered as art, as well as shifting attitudes from audience members.
