For The Love of Art

Exhibition dates: February 13th 2012 – April 30th 2012

Exhibition themes
We would like artists to consider one or all of these themes:
• Spring
• Love
• St Valentine’s Day
We hope this exhibition will communicate the positive aspects of creativity to the people spending time in the hospital

What kind of work
Please submit only two-dimensional works of art. Your work must be on a stretcher or in a wooden frame, so that fittings can be fixed to the back and it can be installed securely. The selected work will be insured while it is at the hospital.

How to submit
Other Side Gallery artists are invited to submit one or two pieces of their work. You can submit new work or work you have already made.

If your work is selected for the exhibition, you will need to bring it to Royal Brompton Hospital (which is near South Kensington underground station) on 7th, 8th or 9th February 2012.  Please confirm that you can do this.

There will be a 30% commission on any sales. This will be split equally between The Other Side Gallery and Royal Brompton & Harefield Arts.

Please send
• An image of one or two works of art
• The title, medium and size of each work of art
• A few words about why you think the work fits the themes.
One or two sentences is fine. If you want to write more, that’s fine too.
• Your phone number
• Whether you would like your work to be for sale, and if so, how much you would like to sell it for (we will add the 30% commission on top of it)
• Confirmation that if your work is selected, you can bring it to Royal Brompton Hospital on 7th, 8th or 9th February

Please send all of the above to
vickihume@theothersidegallery.org  or
Victoria Hume

How the work will be selected
A group of staff and patients from Royal Brompton Hospital will choose a maximum of 25 works for the exhibition.

Artists whose work is selected for the exhibition will be notified by the 4th February 2012.

After the work has been selected
Artists who have work accepted in to the exhibition must be able to deliver their work to the Royal Brompton on 7th, 8th or 9th February 2012.   We will arrange this with you when we let you know whether you have been selected.

Installing the work
The exhibition will be installed on 11th and 12th February. If anyone would like to help with this installation please let Vicki know – we would love to have your help if you can.

Private View
A private view will take place at the hospital on
Thursday 16th February 2012 at 6pm and everyone from the Other Side Gallery is welcome!  We will send out invites nearer the time.

End of the show
The exhibition will be taken down around 30th April.
Artists will need to come and pick up any work that has not sold. We will arrange this with them near the time.
