On October 26th ( 1.30 – 5.30 pm ), Portugal Prints will be joining forces with a host of associated organisations and the Tate Modern to bring you Grand Bazaart; a collaboration of creative minds in celebration of World Mental Health Day.
The event is free and theres no need to book in advance
"Come and join us as we transform the Tate Modern’s East Room into a trove of paper dreams.
Portugal Prints will be making origami cranes to fly – with a message and a wish. Make one crane for us, and make one to fly home for yourself. The room, on the sixth floor, has glass walls on three sides. The cranes will fly from the ceiling, close to the local birds. And the crane is a symbol for eternal youth, healing and prosperity in Japanese mythology.
We invite you to share with us your messages and wishes before the day – a favourite quote, a dream, the things that make you smile – to fly amongst the cranes. We are also very open to any other origami suggestions –
Origami hearts or boxes – let us know if you’ve seen something you’d like to make!
You can email your contributions directly to us or put them up via the Facebook event page (link below)
Our partner organisations – Cooltan Arts, Seymour Arts, SLAM, Studio Upstairs, and Network Arts – will all be running workshops and events throughout the afternoon so please come along for what is set to be a fabulous afternoon in a wonderful setting ."
