The Outside In: National events programme has so far seen Laurent Danchin come over from Paris to talk on Jean Dubuffet and coiner of the term Outsider Art Roger Cardinal talk on the Marginal Arts.
January sees the last of the talks alongside the exhibition …
Thursday 17th January Lou Pack's evaluation film on Outside In is being showcased at the Gallery for the first time. It features interviews with artists and people invovled in the project including sculptor Richard Wilson. This will be followed by a screening of a film called 'Thou Art' – a research and development film project exploring community-based art practice and its links to well-being and progression opportunities in the lives of mental health service users. A discussion with follow about arts and health afterwards.

Thursday 24th January Bobby Baker comes to the Gallery to talk on 'The drawing of breath.' In this illustrated talk renowned performance artist Bobby Baker will explore how painting, breathing and 'madness' led her to create the remarkable series of drawings, 'Bobby Baker's Diary Drawings: Mental Illness and Me 1997-2008.'
