Magic Carpet at Thelma Hulbert Gallery

From 14th December 2013 – 15th February 2014, Magic Carpet is proud and excited to be exhibiting at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, in Honiton.

The exhibition will showcase artworks produced by a group of adults with learning disabilities, who attend Magic Carpet's weekly sessions in Honiton.

The group have participated in workshops with Outside In sculptor James Lake and author Clive Essame to produce 2D and 3D artwork inspired by the book Impisi, written by Clive Essame. Impisi explores attitudes to disability in society, through the story of Nkosi, a male lion who is about to take over the pride until he is caught in a wire snare. He escapes but is taunted by other animals and loses all self respect. He strikes up an unlikely alliance with the despised hyena, and through this relationship he begins to rebuild his life.

The exhibition is at: Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Elmfield House, Dowell Street, Honiton, Devon, EX14 1LX
