Poetry Readings

Outside In and Disability Arts Online (Dao) invite you to celebrate World Mental Health day with poetry readings at Pallant House Gallery on Saturday 11 October, 2 – 4pm. We have invited two guest poets, John O’ Donoghue and Wendy Young, to share their poetry, alongside Colin Hambrook (Dao Editor) who will compere the event.

John O'Donoghue is the author of Brunch Poems (Waterloo Press, 2009) and Sectioned: A Life Interrupted (John Murray, 2009). Sectioned was awarded Mind Book of the Year 2010. He teaches Creative Writing at the University of Westminster and lives in Brighton.

Wendy Young‘s poetry has been published in publications such as South Bank Poetry Magazine, Poetry Rival as well as her popular blog with Dao. Wendy is an experienced spoken word poet, performing at many Survivors’ Poetry events in London. She says her poetry is an outlet for her life experiences.

To start off the afternoon, we have 8 five minute long open mic spaces available to local poets. If you would like one of these spots, please email: h.whitlock@pallant.org.uk or call 01243 770 845.

This free event is taking place in Room 11 at the Gallery and will include a tea break.
