Spring DAiSY Festival Exhibition
4th – 29th April 2013
The Theatre, Leatherhead
DAiSY is an organisation that promotes and supports disability arts in Surrey. It has gained funding to initiate a disability arts festival in the county which is hoped will become an annual event each Spring.
As part of this festival, there will be an exhibition showing the best in outsider and disability arts from Surrey and beyond at the Leatherhead Theatre throughout April. The exhibition will showcase 4 strands of work: a selection of work from the Outside In: National exhibition that was held at Pallant House Gallery, work from the ‘Exploration’ project created by people with multiple disabilities, a selected DAiSY exhibition from artists and organisations across Surrey and ‘Look About’, a two year mapping and collecting project by Portsmouth based artist/geologist Jon Adams. This diverse, inspiring artwork will fill the distinctive, modernist spaces of the listed Leatherhead Theatre.
Between 26 – 27 April, the Spring DAiSY Festival will bring together and celebrate the best in disability and integrated arts in Surrey and beyond, featuring workshops, poetry, film screenings, music and spectacular theatre and dance performances. Using every inch of space the Theatre has to offer, there will be workshops to join, performances to see and hear, artworks to explore and artists to meet.
The festival will showcase work from companies and artists including Freewheelers, Dramatize, Orpheus, Artmatters, Bloomin’ Arts, John Kelly and StopGAP Dance Co.
