An art trail telling the story of outsider and marginalised artists in the collection at Pallant House Gallery.
Like Scottie Wilson, Alfred Wallis was preserved from obscurity by the forethought of established artists who were to become deeply influenced by his work. Christopher Wood and Ben Nicholson discovered Wallis by chance when they spied his paintings nailed up on the walls of his house through an open doorway. His work now hangs in many major collections around the world. The Step Up Trail highlights the stories of Outsider and outsider-influenced artists throughout the Collection. Follow the Step Up symbols on labels throughout the Galleries.
