The Art House’s OPEN: Annual Members’ Exhibition is a chance to celebrate the achievements of our artist members, who range from artists at the beginning of their careers to established practitioners. This exhibition builds on last year’s successful inaugural open event.
The OPEN launched at the Wakefield Artwalk on Wednesday 25 July and sees original work from artists across the UK on display for the public to enjoy and discuss. This year they have had submissions from 65 artists and 65 pieces are being exhibited (one per artist). 269 visitors attended the launch. This year they are also presenting a “Mini Art Prize” where members of the public donate £1 to vote for their favourite piece of work. All donations will be given to the artist receiving the most votes at the completion of the exhibition in September.
This gathering of local and national members is an exciting and unique event. Taking over the whole of The Art House’s purpose-built centre on Drury Lane, the exhibition comprises a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography. A selection of work will be for sale, offering members of the public the chance to take home original and affordable art from this vibrant event.
